Upcycled Tan Sweatshirt with Rag Quilt Heart Appliqué

Description

This one-of-a-kind sweatshirt is the embodiment of cozy. Made from a soft, thrifted pullover sweatshirt, I gave it a second life by covering the breast-pocket embroidery with a hand-sewn heart shaped applique. The applique piece—a small heart made from faux “quilt” printed fabric—was hand cut and sewn by myself for this sweatshirt. The fabric was sourced secondhand.

I machine-appliquéd the heart right onto the sweatshirt. The sweatshirt itself is a comfy medium weight cotton blend and is perfectly oversized.

Each piece I make is totally unique and made with thrifted and vintage textiles—perfect for folks who love sustainable fashion, upcycled clothing, and handmade style with a story.
