Visible Mending
I specialize in visible mending using embroidery, patchwork, and embellishment to give worn or damaged garments a fresh, creative new life. Each mend is tailored to the garment and your style—functional repairs that look good too.
Hems
If it’s just a bit too long, I can help. I hem pants, skirts, dresses, sleeves, and more—whether it’s denim, slacks, or delicate fabrics. Your clothes will fit just the way you want, without compromising their original style.
Formals (Gowns)
From prom to bridesmaids to black tie, I alter all types of formal gowns. Services include hems, fit adjustments, bra cups, strap removal, adding pockets, and more. Your dress should be comfortable, flattering, and ready for the spotlight.
Hand Darning
I hand darn knitwear like sweaters and socks with care and precision. Whether you want invisible mending or a bold, creative patch, I work with all materials to restore your favorites.
Patches & Labels
Bring in your jackets, bags, jeans, or other gear—I sew on custom patches using strong, matching thread so they stay put and look clean. Perfect for adding flair or personal meaning to your clothing.
Quilt Repairs
I can finish quilt tops using your materials—like memory quilts or t-shirt quilts—or repair existing quilts with patched panels, seam fixes, and gentle reinforcement. Your quilt’s story matters, and I’ll help preserve it.
Buttons
Lost a button? I can replace it, add extras, or create buttonholes to match. From coats to shirts, I make sure your buttons are secure and functional.
Denim Repairs
I handle most denim repairs using heavy-duty tools and machines. Services include patches, rivet replacement, zipper swaps, seam repairs, and more. Whether it’s your favorite jeans or a denim jacket, I’ll keep it going strong.

Labeling Services
On-Location Fittings
Let's change the way we think about alteration fittings with on-location fitting appointments! I'm available in the Greater Pittsburgh area to travel to you and complete your fitting in the comfort of your own home, or at your venue. I also do fitting pop-ups at various events around the city.
Private Sewing Lessons
Made by Hand offers private, one-on-one sewing lessons for adults ages 18+. Lessons are personally tailored to exactly what you want to learn so you can reach your sewing goals faster. All lessons are taught either at our shop in Monroeville, or in your home*.
Each lesson is a minimum of 1 hour, and multiple lessons may be scheduled for extended projects. Lessons are $40 per hour-long class. Discounts may be available for extended lesson plans.
*For in-home lessons, you must have your own sewing machine and it must be set up in a designated sewing area.
